Dimraeth Pets: The 9 Companions & How to Unlock
Dimraeth pets explained: the nine companions in the Dogs, Cats and Birds categories, how the system opens through Myrll, and what each pet does.
Pets in Dimraeth are companions rather than collectibles, and the system does not open on its own. You get access to it through Myrll partway into the story, and individual creatures still have their own unlock conditions on top of that. The community wiki currently lists nine pets across three categories and describes what they do in combat, while the clearest public write-up of how you actually unlock them is a third-party guide that documents a reproducible first route. Everything below is labelled by which of those two it came from.
What pets are in Dimraeth
The community wiki organises the current roster into three categories — Dogs, Cats and Birds — and lists nine named pets in total.
| Pet | Category | Documented role or note |
|---|---|---|
| Moon Cat | Cat | Restores Concentration (guide-documented) |
| Silver Cat | Cat | Listed in the wiki catalogue; details pending |
| War Cat | Cat | Described by the wiki as a community favourite for combat |
| Ember Hound | Dog | Fire Damage and Burning (guide-documented); wiki notes distinctive facial features |
| Hound | Dog | Listed in the wiki catalogue; details pending |
| Fangra Cub | Dog | Strike Damage, Bleeding and Chill (guide-documented) |
| Frost Owl | Bird | Listed in the wiki catalogue; details pending |
| Parrot | Bird | Courier function identical to the Dogs, per the wiki |
| Blight Crow | Bird | Listed in the wiki catalogue; details pending |
Two caveats worth stating plainly. First, the wiki's own catalogue still carries "to be added" placeholders for several function columns, so a fully filled-in stat table does not exist anywhere public yet. Second, the guide names the bird companion "Carrion Parrot" while the wiki lists it as "Parrot"; they are describing the same slot. This site does not republish the unresolved numbers.
Are pets worth using?
They are built into the combat loop rather than bolted on. The community wiki says pets take part in encounters by applying status effects to enemies, and ties that directly to the game's Souls-lite combat framework. In practical terms you are not choosing between a pet and a damage item — the pet is a second source of debuffs.

The guide's ability notes give the clearest picture of how they differ: Moon Cat restores Concentration, Ember Hound brings Fire Damage and Burning, Fangra Cub mixes Strike Damage, Bleeding and Chill, and the Parrot applies Bleeding to enemies who are already bleeding. That last one is conditional, which is the pattern to expect — pets that amplify a state you have to create first.
How the companion system unlocks
Pets do not start unlocked, and this is the part most searches are really about. According to the third-party guide, companions only become useful after Myrll joins the Sanctum: you meet her during story progression, finish the request tied to her, and invite her back, and only then do her companion options appear. Meeting that requirement opens the system — it does not hand you every creature she can offer.
The first individual unlock the guide could trace cleanly comes later on the main route. After repairing the broken bridge you reach the Beast-Occupied Ruins, and killing the Alpha Wolf there grants the pet unlock immediately; returning to Myrll then makes the Fangra Cub available through her companion trade. Since that is a first-hand reproduction rather than an official statement, treat it as the best-documented path rather than the only one.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Meet Myrll during story progression | Companion theme is introduced |
| Finish the request tied to her and invite her to the Sanctum | The companion system becomes available |
| Repair the broken bridge and reach the Beast-Occupied Ruins | Opens the route to the first pet |
| Defeat the Alpha Wolf | Grants the pet unlock |
| Return to Myrll | Fangra Cub available through her companion trade |
Pets level, carry, and courier
Pets are not static once unlocked. The guide records that they gain levels, can carry items, and can use Courier to send loot back to your Sanctum chests — which makes them part of the logistics side of the game as much as the combat side. The community wiki adds the one detail that matters for choosing a bird: the Parrot's courier function is identical to the Dogs, so if you only care about moving loot, the species you pick is a style choice rather than a functional one.

If storage capacity is your real bottleneck rather than the animals themselves, the base building page covers the early storage and workbench order, and the builds page covers the character side that pets amplify.
Where to go next
If you are still assembling the character your pet supports, start with builds or the class list. If you are early in the story and want the wider route, the guide covers progression, and if you have not decided whether to buy in at all yet, the Early Access status page explains what state the build is in.
FAQ
- How many pets are in Dimraeth?
- The community wiki lists 9 unique pets, split into three categories: Dogs, Cats and Birds. Named entries are Moon Cat, Silver Cat and War Cat for cats; Ember Hound, Hound and Fangra Cub for dogs; and Frost Owl, Parrot and Blight Crow for birds.
- How do you unlock pets in Dimraeth?
- The companion system opens through Myrll. One third-party guide documents meeting her during story progression, finishing the request tied to her and inviting her back to the Sanctum before companion options appear, and notes that opening the system does not automatically unlock every creature she can offer.
- How do you get the Fangra Cub?
- The same guide records a reproducible first route: repair the broken bridge, reach the Beast-Occupied Ruins, defeat the Alpha Wolf there, then return to Myrll, where the Fangra Cub becomes available through her companion trade.
- Do pets fight with you?
- Yes. The community wiki says pets participate in encounters by applying status effects to enemies, which lines them up with the game's Souls-lite combat, and it identifies known pet debuffs as a distinct category rather than cosmetic effects.
- Do pets carry loot?
- They do. The third-party guide records that pets level, carry items, and can use Courier to send loot back to Sanctum chests, and the community wiki notes the Parrot's courier function is identical to that of the Dogs.
